Can you compost with sand?

What Lazy Gardener said. I use sand, and a kitty litter scooper thing. The sand stays in the coop, just the poop is removed.

The recipe for good compost of carcasses or offal is equal parts animal, sand, and sawdust. Makes the most perfect black soil. Therefore, sand is great in compost if mixed with carbon and nitrogen sources. Good luck
