They are putting adds on your page an they are getting paid by the advertisements. Its not much but with enough people putting up free websites it adds up.

Its not that bad if ya did. Registering a domain is about $15 a year an web hosting can be about $5 a month. I host mine at home an it don't cost anything per month. I also have ads on mine but I put them there an get the money from them. I thought about paying a host but because most of mine is live video feeds that I have to host my self I might as well host it all.
