The title says it all. We are going to be giving one of my hens a shot of penicillin G when my DH gets home from work.
I would rather not isolate her from the flock if I don't have to. It's very hot here and the only place I could isolate her would be in a large dog kennel on the screened porch.
So, do I absolutely have to isolate her in order to toss her eggs? and if so, how long do I have to toss her eggs for after one injection?
TIA

One thing to consider is if you are allergic to penicillin. You may react from eating the eggs if you are.

Actually I am deathly allergic to penicillin, so I know eggs are off my diet for awhile, but I wondered for my DH.

Bumping my own thread, cuz I really need to know.

No, you can not eat the eggs when given PCN. For how long, I am unsure. But I KNOW you can NOT eat the eggs. I read it on the package insert at the vet supply I purchased PCN at.

I hope that helps. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I was told by a very good source a minimum of 14 days but the person likes to wait 30 to get the Pen G all out of their system.

Thanks again y'all.
I'm going to skip the penicillin for now and just treat the wound topically. I don't want to seperate her from her family unless absolutely necessary.
