Can you eat Mandie/Woodie (Mandarin and Wood Duck) eggs?

We were hoping to someday get Mandarin and Wood Ducks, but there is one question I keep wondering. Can you eat their non-fertile eggs?

No, unfertile eggs contain high amounts of cyanide which is produced by the unfertilization process. Anytime you have an infertile egg in a nest it should be removed immediately and disposed of in the safest manner possible. The reason for the quick removal from the nest is the possibility of killing the hen due to the escaping cyanide gas. The cyanide gas inside the egg is displaced by the heavier methane being produced by farting ducklings inside of the fertile eggs that lie alongside. NEVER eat an infertile egg!

Most questions are not stupid....ok maybe some are...but their are many different ages of people on this forum with different amounts of knowledge. Perhaps some eggs from some birds are nasty tasting.......who knows if never tried.
