Can you eat the first eggs that a hen lays?

I have noticed on my first egg...hoorah! It has white spots on brown shell....is that ok?

Perfectly normal, just working to get that laying machine do it’s job, sometimes there’s extra calcium on the shell, sometimes rough and bumps or discoloration, sometimes no shell at all. When I had my first eggs from my very first 10 batch of hens, someone posted a link about eggs anomalies to help me out with my questions on torpedo shape and rough wrinkle eggs. Hopefully I can find it.

Thank you....i was so surprised to the little egg, I have no idea which hen laid it. I have two red stars (I think that's what they are) I have one white leghorn? And another bigger hen but about 4 months and she's black white , mottled....all cross breeds I guess. Here in Spain they call them by other names. Apparently all good layers!....
I very new at this, only two weeks....so both the hens and me are real novices.

I just got my first egg yesterday! It was smaller and brown but looks delish! My spouse said he wasnt sure if you should eat the first ones so of course here I am and THANK YOU! because I AM going to eat it tomorrow morning, also hoping there are more in there before tomorrow breakfast anyway... YUMM!!! And my ladies are around 5 months old!

You can eat any egg you find... the first ones always taste the best

You can collect just once a day... don't need to go out looking every 15 minutes, though it can be tempting when they first start to lay!

Yes, hens tend to lay in the same nest boxes that others have already laid in. That's why it's often suggested to put golf balls in the nest boxes to encourage them to lay there instead of under the bushes and the back deck like my chickens do.

(Every single one of my chickens lays her eggs in a different spot, only one lays in the nest box... silly chickens!!!)
Is three fake eggs to many in the nesting box? It could be any day now.
