Okay hilarious post!

If the apocalypse happens in December you'll wish you had stocked the freezer with jellybeans. Those suckers will be worth their weight in gold to all the folks needing a sugar fix. It'll be a new form of currency.

Of course, there would be those who might turn them into a liquid asset, too. Would it be "moonbean" or "beanshine"?

As a previous poster said, you can freeze them fine, the problem is thawing them.
If you can see any ice crystals on them, they will not thaw well. The ice will melt and make them very sticky.
If you stored them tightly closed and can see no ice crystals, thaw them closed. Don't open them till they are room temperature or you will get sticky, runny beans.
Might be best to keep them in a reclosable bag and just take out a few at a time to pop in your mouth. Yum!

One possible solution would be to quick freeze them by dunking them into liquid nitrogen. You would have to be gentle until the returned to 'normal' frozen temperatures. If they were to be dropped or even strike each other sharply they could shatter.

JELLY BEANS

Jelly beans were most likely originally made from real fruit juice - a jelly thickened with grain starch and coated with sugar. Today, most jelly beans contain artificial colors and flavors.

Jellybeans are likely descended from the Middle Eastern confection known as Turkish Delight, a jelly-like confection coated with confectioners sugar. The method making the sugar shell coating was developed in 17th century France, and is known as 'panning'.

The first advertisement for jelly beans was supposedly published in the Chicago Daily News on July 5, 1905.

Jelly beans became associated with Easter in the U.S. during the 1930's.

Almost 15 billion jelly beans are sold during the Easter season. (2001)

Jellybeans. Do you eat them one at a time or grab a handful? Either way, these chewy candies are quite yummy and often show up in Easter baskets. Brush up on your jellybean trivia with these five fun facts:
  1. In the 1910s and early 1920s, the word “jellybean” referred to a young man who put a lot of great effort in to dressing stylishly. The word later became synonymous with the term pimp.
  2. Jellybeans have made a trip in a space shuttle.
  3. A series of Harry Potter jellybeans featured flavors like dirt, earwax, pepper, and vomit. Mmmm.
  4. A precursor to the jellybean was advertised as early as 1861 as a candy gift for soldiers fighting in the Civil War.
  5. The blueberry-flavored Jelly Belly jellybean was created especially for President Ronald Reagan’s inauguration in 1981.
