Can you give a silkie that has not been broody chicks?

I have heard a couple times that silkie hens that are not even broody will take on chicks. Is this true? Has anyone tried it? I was just wondering

Haven't tried it with Silkies, but it hasn't worked with any of my other breeds. Always ends up with the hen attacking the chicks.

My sizzles will adopt and parent any chick regardless of whether or not they are broody. Don't quite understand it but I'm cool with it!

They are completely bonded with each other though and have to do everything together… I'm pretty sure they share a brain.
