No, I have never heard of that happening. Perhaps someone else has, but I believe it has something to do with the amount of nutrition inside the egg.

Type 'incubating double yolk' in the search bar and do an on site search. It has been done,

It's happened a few times on here, but it's rare and they need assistance. Don't set double yolker eggs if at all possible. It's just heartbreak 95% of the time. Even if they are hatched sometimes one or both will die.

Many twin chicks have genetic defects, I've heard. Although I thought it was a rumour and actually couldn't be done. Guess I learn something new every day!

I wouldnt do it. Better off hatching from the same hen. I did an both chicks look the same in color just different combs.

Most only make to day 10

most of the time there isn't enough room for both growing chicks so they need help to hatch and dont normally survive past day 10 of incubation.

Deformations are common in double yolker incubations. Sometimes there is partial absorption of one embryo into the other, which causes some very disturbing results. And even if they both manage to develop normally, assistance is needed at hatching. Malpositions of one or both chicks make drowning in the shell a real possibility.
It's best to not attempt to incubate such an egg.

Well, here is an egg with a crack in it, most would say don't try and incubate this, but here it is, with nail polish on it it is on day 6.

It is in it's own incubator, it was a shipped egg that was fine, then it got dented when placed in the dividers in a diff incubator. the egg is a rare pavlovaskaya egg and after WW2 there were only 2 of these kind of birds in Russia. So I am not, not going to try and hatch. day 6
