I was wondering if you have ever hatched chicken and duck eggs together under a chicken? If so have you been successful? If you were successful how did you do that?
Thanks please let me know ASAP!!

I never have, I've incubated both though and don't think it would work because chicken eggs hatch in 21 days and ducks about 28 days, so it is too big a difference.

In order for it to work you would have to put the duck eggs beneath the hen a week before the chicken eggs. Otherwise she would desert the duck eggs once the chicken eggs hatched.

Ah! I get it I put the duck eggs under yesterday and the chicken eggs I havent gotten yet!
Thank you!!

I've done it before. Just make sure and take away the first babies that hatch right away so that the hen will continue incubating the eggs that are still developing (the chicks would hatch first if you put the eggs under the hen at the same time). After a couple days with babies under her, she'll get up to help them find food and water and leave the eggs behind. You want to avoid this.
