I guess if that was the Head Hen spot because it feels most protected, then she's still being a good mum and keeping them safe even now they're roosting. I wonder if she'll insist on taking the spot back once they're older and she feels like they can manage entirely by themselves.
Agreed :goodpost: I think that's exactly what she's doing

Took Dakota outside and tucked in the other birds. Dakota said no way and waited at the door for me to take her back into the house.
I cannot and will not argue with a redhead! :th

You are a good Hooman servant 🐓

Tonight two of the bagpipes (Dotty and Ghast) decided to sleep in the trees. Oh, but they chose DIFFERENT trees and had to screech out this information.

Oh boy! Brats!

I missed you on here and was wondering how the squawky creatures were doing ♥️

Next year I will need to get a bunch of them to run free in my paddocks to eat all the ticks. How are they free ranging?

Mr Wyandottey has a sniffle, (cough) which could lead to bronchial infection. All he really wants is to be recognized. I’m flying him to Bakersfield tomorrow morning to have him checked out. View attachment 4236551

Likely what they all get this time of year. Hope he is ok!

(say hi to my cousins when you’re there)

Alright, here are the long anticipated photos.
The rest of the falcon photos I have. There were 2 owls as well.

This falcon with its eyes closing I found quite funny.

Desserts galore. I didn't get a photo of them all, however there were apple dumplings (black crate) and on that blue crate are apple fritters. Other desserts included surprise cake, pumpkin pie, apple cider cupcakes, I'm sure there was apple pie and that's all I can remember.

Clay's Bridge. A beautiful photo I will say.

It's getting late, so part 2 tomorrow.
Did you do the mill tour?

They're doing great. Sorry, been battling serious fatigue and my whole family is having health issues right now.
I love how they jump on things and scream at me, they're so sassy. And they all follow me to the garage door to beg for a scoop of food.
I have only seen three ticks since I got them free ranging.

And for extra points (and quite interesting) do you know how many a giraffe has?

Hahahaha that was the first thing that popped up in Google when I was typing, but alas I ignored the choice.

7! Same as us

Tall tale tax
They know where to roost 😉 smarty pants those two. Alas too small to be in the rough shinanigans with the main gang at roost time.

The whole reason I ended up swapping those Barred Rocks recently was because we got chatting after I messaged the breeder to (jokingly!) ask for my money back, as one of the "Shetland hens" he'd sold me was quite clearly crossed with a giraffe.

Now I have an emu from the same hatch.
Ooooo pretty girl! Love that funky topknot!
