It's so hard to lose a friend, even if it is a chicken...give the little guy a hug for me.

Wow, after that pic of your son, I totally lost my train of thought over roos vs pullets...give me a second to compose myself.

Betty, Aretha, Poka, Chululu, Nugget...these are the ones that I pick for roos.

I am so sorry about your loss. I just lost one of my hens to a racoon so it wasnt that bad of a death. Compared to what it could be.

Thank you! We've been having lots of talks about chicken heaven and question after question about what happened and when Pippa will come back. Poor thing. It has been a great learning experience for him though...

I have sent many chickens to chicken heaven...plus my mom and dad (also, chicken lovers) are in heaven. My kids know that their grandparents take care of the chickens and that they are with their friends and happy in heaven. It makes it a little better but there are still many tears...including mine.

I already have way to many roos!! Last 8 silkie chicks I purchased all ended up being roos!!!!

Haha, well it was worth a shot! I'm a little excited about finding them new homes because it makes room for more! I've been looking closely at them all since reading the responses here. Chulula, Betty and aretha have big bumpy combs but Poka and Nugget don't have as pronounced combs. But Poka is very big and feisty too.
