This hen was found roaming one of our islands here on the coast of South Carolina (boat access only). I’m told she’s doing well and had laid an egg near the dock. I gave the captain a bit of food to supplement her diet however we have no clue what she is; can you help?

A am certainly no pro, the only thing I can identify is a Rhode Island Red :) Did "some" photo comparisons and I’m thinking may be a Penedesenca Breed of the Wheaten variety. This seems unlikely do to its rarity from what I’ve been reading. It was also suggested may be a Bantam.

You’re expertise would be appreciated.

Additionally, any tips on caring for this girl without intruding too much would be appreciated. Like I said, she’s roaming freely on a very sparsely populated island accessible by boat only; the guys just what it assist with her wellbeing.

This is the only photo we've got...sorry for the poor quality.

some kind of Old English Game Bird cross

Here is a pic of a Wheaten OEG pullet (NOT MY PIC)

OEGB are very good foragers, as long as she can stay warm, she probably will be fine. Of course, I'm sure she wouldn't turn down free handouts.

She looks like some sort of Game breed, and definitely Wheaten variety, though she may be mixed-breed. It looks like she may have a pea comb, but I can't tell very well from the photo. Is it a pea comb (like this), or a single comb (like this)? How big is she? Do you think you could take a photo of her next to some object so we can get a good idea on size? Game breeds come in both bantam and large fowl sizes that look exactly alike except for size.
By the way,
