Can you keep a rooster alone

They are a flock animal so enjoy company, theres a couple things you could do here , make it a bachelor pad for unwanted roosters or a retirement home for hens if your just wanting bug eaters, otherwise your going to be his flock mate and will need to spend lots of time with them

I have a few kept as singles. One went whole summer without seeing another chicken. To keep lives exciting, I move their pens about give piles of hay to scratch through. They also have an elevated roost with a little feed container they can check on. Feed is applied largely as course grains that is scattered on ground so they have to look for it. A couple based in yard are periodically released although not at same time.
