Can you keep just one Peacock?

I have some friends who have a peahen that lives in the house as a pet. When you sit down she will come and put her head on your leg to be stroked, then happily doze off. Her name is Shreep, which is the sound she makes when you're not fixing her food fast enough. She has and indoor cage and goes into it when she wants to poo and sleep. She's amazing. They have 5 other males and females in an outdoor pen that is about 20 x 20. I think Shreep is the exception and was imprinted at birth on humans. Generally Peafowl and other birds are flock animals and need the safety, security and companionship of others of their kind. So if you want mentally well adjusted birds, get two or more. I would get three so that two of them could talk about the third one behind his back. HA!

thats what happened to me once, after a while she walked in my pen of peacocks, and stayed there ever since!

back to the question, i have a peachick, who has been on his own since he was hatched, he seems to think human company is better then a birds

. But that was because he was imprinted.

Yes the do get friendly, very friendly. This is the second Peacock we have had show up out of the blue.
The first one we re-homed to a large flock.
Peacocks are a bit of a pest problem where I live. Because of the mild climate they breed like rabbits and take over neighborhoods like gangs of juvenile delinquents.

They pick out one house roof to all roost on. Their poop ends up destroying the roofing. The Peacock catchers come and all the birds are caught. What happens to them I don't know and probably would rather not know.

Flocks of them live at the Castle and they make days raids at the neighboring gardens then escape back to the safe confines of the Castle grounds.
I think it is hilarious but I don't live near the Castle.

I know of a elderly couple who have two Wild turkeys as house pets. No smell, very clean house.
