Hello everyone, I’m new to the game and I want to start this exciting hobby with my wife and 3 sons. Planning on building a coop and because of space limitations in certain areas I’m wondering if I can put the run and coop in full shade? It would be under large oak tree. Thanks so much

Our coop and run are in full shade, which is great for summer. However, think ahead to winter to make sure the summer spot is also a suitable winter spot. Don't know where you are located but if you are in a wintery location, consider the trees without leaves, protection from predators, wind direction, snow drift, sunlight direction, effort needed on your part to visit coop daily, etc.

It would be under large oak tree.
Could be perfect if you live in a hot climate, oaks will shed leaves in winter allowing winter sun. Course you will have to deal with massive leaf fall.

Welcome to BYC @Chelps03 !
Where in this world are you located?
Climate is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, then it's always there!
