Poor thing. then she probably is a girl. I would hope family wouldn't do that. She is very pretty. I did notice that her comb doesn't stick up on the back of her head like the roosters does.

I have hatched out so many eggs from my serama's that I have chicks coming out of my ears. I just got my pairs this year. I didn't expect so many babies already. I started with 4 pairs. I now have about 30 or more serama.

They add up quick. Happy hatching. One of my hens went broody. I was shocked. I have old english and they never go broody.

Thanks everyone

I am just going to keep my fingers crossed that i get an egg soon... and if not... how do you make silkied feathered seremas? Do you have to cross a Silkie with them? Because i would think that that might add a crest, feathered feet, ect.
Thanks again!

Also-can anyone tell me what color Oliver is considered and if he would make a good showbird? I know he isnt from a hatchery and from some breeder but im not sure from what one..
Thanks!

Ok, gotta show off my new Silkie Seramas....I love them. They are coming out of a molt but I think they will look great. Let me know what you think of the comb on the male - don't know if it's a bit big or not

Hi, you should post your questions to the actual serama thread, https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=99179&p=90 There are allot of experienced serama people over there. Unfortunately, I do believe that you Lilly is a Lyle but it will be interesting to see what the more experienced breeders have to say. If you look at the pictures of the silkies on pg 90 of the serama thread your lilly looks just like there silkie roosters.

That comb and wattles are just way too big for a hen but I could be wrong??

To get more silkies you breed silkie to smooth, you will get 50% smooth and 50% silkie from your hatch. Good Luck!!

They both are very unique colors; I couldn't even tell you what they're close to, wheaten maybe. If Lily ends up being a girl, breed 'em together and see what you get. Silkied feathers are recessive, so Oliver might carry the gene. In this case, half your babies should be silkied. If he doesn't carry the gene, you'll need another generation, bred back to Lily, to get silkieds. If Lily is a boy, do the same thing with him and a smooth hen, if you can't find a silkied one. Once you get silkieds, breed them together, and all will be that way. You can show them, and in the SCNA, they are eligable for show champion. ABA will only recognize them as a non-standard variety of Seramas, though, and will place them no higher than BV.
