He was a Polish, but what kind?

He passed away a few years ago and I want to find another one like him!!

I'm sure he's a mix of some kind, any help in identifying what he may be mixed from would be great!!

Here's younger pics of him as well:

That is a BEAUTIFUL, polish mutt.

Got some buff in him but other than that... you guess would be as good as mine.

As BBB has stated it could be a cross of anything, but as you stated it is definately heavily polish. However looking at him in his younger feathers, he resembles a cross I did this year with other breeds quite a bit. This last spring I crossed a black tailed red female with a white male, and my chicks that I hatched are identically colored as your bird. They are almost a columbian, but have extra red in the wing bow and also a black tail. That may be the best way to get the color or at least try again, cross a black tailed red bird with a white bird. In the case you may be able to cross a Rhode Island Red and a White Polish.

I got him in a "top hat special" from Ideal. I have searched and have had no luck finding anything that look like him.

I was once told "Tolbunt"...I have no clue what that is, lol

He sure was beautiful and had the neatest personality!

Lord no, I've had quite a few colors of polish bantams, and have also had the tolbunts as well. They are a redish bodied bird with black and white mottling all threw the red. They are extremely hard to find and very expensive when you do, I can assure you no hatchery has those!
He's more buff columbian looking than anything, but is of no recognized polish color.
Here's the polish breeder's club website. It has all the colors listed, including the tolbunts if you'd like to see them...
