Can you tell the predator by it's poop?

A tape measure in the picture would have helped gauge size. My guess is Raccoon, I find their scat around my place looking a awful lot like your picture.

Coyote or perhaps fox. I only have those predators near my place, and i saw a similar scat close to my house. It had red dots in it, like berries. I dont know, good luck finding your killer, and bringing him to justice :]

I believe you have a raccoon. Scat looks liker raccoon.

Hardware-cloth any weak spots in the coop or run and set a trap outside the door with a tin of sardines to send the raccoon to penitentiary or better yet, penitentiary + .22-land.

I'm dealing with these b*st*rds in the Texas heat/drought as they aggressively search for water and food in the heat/drought.

I am tending a friends' henhouse that was built too far from the people-house so it has been ignored too much before I showed up (baby peep-peep). In other words, I only just now put up hardware cloth over the chicken-wire that was there and is ineffective to deter raccoons etc..

You need something in the photo for scale. Fox, coyote, raccoon, bear, and fisher (yes fishers will eat berries, contrary to popular belief) all eat berries when in season. Bobcats do not, however, as they are obligate carnivores. Something for scale will help narrow it down, but it is sometimes not possible to determine species based on scat appearance alone, since it varies depending on diet and size of the individual.
