Can you use a big galvanized tub to waterbath can outdoors ?

My grandmother canned for years using a galvanized tub. She placed rags in the bottom to keep jars off bottom of tub, She also placed rags between jars so they wouldn't break while boiling, It held 23 quarts .There was never a problem with beans spoiling . She had the tub sitting on cinder blocks. You can take an old piece of plywood and put a handle on top to cover washtub .
