Can you use heat bulb with regular lamp?

I have a 60 watt reptile red incandescent light bulb. I also have a desk lamp stand that I can screw this bulb into that takes 60 Watts. Would this be a bad idea for the brooder? Just wondering...

Sometimes on the lamps it has a sticker saying what Watt you can use in it. personally I would not I would just go buy a clamp lamp from the hardware store

The heat lamps are fairly inexpensive ($5-8) at even Walmart and the porcelean base is safer plus the metal hood really concentrates the heat from the bulb better I think. Hold on to that 60 watt incandescent bulb since they are impossible to find. You can use that, but you may need a higher wattage bulb to start out with when the chicks are just born. A thermometer on the floor of the brooder under the light is best 90 degrees for the first week, then go down by 5 degrees each week as tolerated. Always have a cooler area for the chicks to move to when they are too warm.
