Canadians check in here....

The shield runs right behind our house. The hydro line is up on the rocks and there are tons of blueberries up there, so when I deplete my backyard, and when they are really thick I go up on the rocks and pick. The first year we lived here, I lost track of time and was up there for 6 hours and had walked so far I almost got lost. I've run into bears and moose up there. The moose are what really scare me. My kids got me an air horn from the dollar store and it scares the bears away really well. Moose, not so much. I've also seen a timber wolf up there. He doesn't seem to bother with me. The moose aren't too bad unless it's rutting season, but they are soooo big. I used to do a lot of camping when my kids were young. I'd like to take my grandkids, but the health is failing so I don't go any more. We have a huge fire pit in our yard and we have lots of bonfires all summer and winter too. We make banok and cook it on the open fire in the winter. :clap
That sounds ideal. :)

i have a fear of bears lol.

moose on the other hand we have encountered them while out hunting, the few i have run into always run away for me, (saw a huge bull like 30 yards a way while elk/white tail hunting) but my dad was charged by a moose once

Hello everyone,

I have two beautiful pet ducks and i am residing in UAE. I will be relocating to Canada by the end of this year. I desperately want my ducks to relocate with me as well. Leaving them in Dubai is something i cannot imagine. The weather is extremely hot and most of the farms here have bad living conditions for ducks and are taken for slaughter. I have checked with a pet relocation company in Dubai and this is what they replied to me :-

Dear Jenny
Thank you for your email.
Beyond Canadian Authorities, mostmunicipalities disallow pet ducks, unless the area provides an exception for land designated as agricultural.
The pets’ owner will be required to contact the local area they are moving into to inquire if such an exception may be available in their area and the associated costs."
I would suggest that your first step would be to contact the above authority in your local area to confirm if permission to import your pets would be given. Once you have clarity on this, I would be more than happy to assist further.
Warm regards
Kirsty

I am totally new to Canada and haven't decided yet on where im going to stay. I request youll to please help me find a home for my pets in Canada. Someone who legally lives with ducks already and who is willing to adopt my two precious little ones. I will bear all the financial costs. All I need is a safe place for my children. I want to move them first and then i will join them there. If they are comfortable with their new home in Canada im totally fine or i can take them back once i move in there. I want them out of this country for good. Im married and have no children. I treat them as mine.

Please help me find a home for them.

Hello fellow Canadian's!

I'm in Central Alberta with my flock of chickens and a couple African Geese. The chicken numbers are unknown... who actually counts their chickens? Then I'd have to answer honestly when people ask

Most are just a hodgepodge for fun egg colours but I really, really love my Cochins and Silkies/Showgirls so this year I'm focusing on them a bit more than just having them part of the main flock. Working on colours and trying to learn a bit more about SOP and breeding to form. If only the snow would melt and spring actually get here! It's hard to get breeding groups organized when my chicken tractors are still buried and frozen to the ground LOL

Hi @EarEigna!
I'm also in central Alberta.
I agree about the snow. Got coops to build darn It!
I'd love to learn more about the breeding/selection process. You'll have to keep me posted on how it's going.
Hello Michelle :)

Currently my breeding selection process is mostly focused on colour and achieving a Naked neck in the Silkies. I’m still learning about the SOP and translating it to chicken form. Easier when I have a bird grow out and I can go Aha! That’s what that means!

The Cochins are harder as they have an SOP. The Showgirls aren’t recognized so I can just aim for and get whatever I like haha

In the maritimes here! Nova Scotia with our flock and brood. :) Mixed Silkies and jersey giants on the way. Really would like to find some frizzles or frazzles. Not sure the difference.

A hello to everyone from a gal in Quebec city, near Ste-Brigitte-De-laval. I've got five chickens in my shed, 1 rooster and 4 hens, all crossbreds. Who else is in Quebec like me? x3

Welcome :)
I'm not in Quebec, but I do have a breed that originated in Oka (chantecler). Does that count?
