Here in Everett Ontario. Lovin' the spring weather...anyone else on here from nearby??

Very good questions.
I'd be interested to hear other people's experiences. :caf

I too am waiting for other responses.

Here is my experience: I sell to friends, trade to other friends and give eggs to family and people who need them. Whatever works in the moment. Be aware that whatever you choose as a price for your eggs...it is NOT enough. They are lovingly, 'sustain-ably' raised, perhaps even 'organically' or 'Omega3+6ishly'!!! I set a price of $5/dozen...15 years ago. I still charge that, and it makes me ridiculously happy to spend my "egg money" on a cool new gizzmo for my girls!
But; for real...each dozen likely costs more like $22.50 to produce. Sad fact; folks! Eggs are a lovely add-on to a road-side or farmer's market business; an amazing learning curve for your kids, as a business; but they will never be a business in and of themselves; unless you get VERY big! (I am talking hundreds of hens, and that's already being done!)

I brush off most eggs with a soft brush and wash those that have mud etc. in warm water (important to be 10 degrees C warmer than the eggs!). Any poopy eggs/'grounders' are rinsed and fed to my dogs. I store eggs that are for sale in the refrigerator; often our own, just on the kitchen counter. For ourselves; I utilize chicken, turkey, guinea and quail eggs. Sales are generally limited to boring old chicken eggs...

I would like to make a roadside stand for the eggs, veggies and some of the poultry meat I produce. I see other stands in our township but have yet to check the regulations.
I will report what I learn and will be eagerly awaiting what I find on this thread!

Cheers, Kathy

Hello from Surrey BC! Our house and city regulations dont allow us to keep chickens on our property, so instead we have a small covey of 5 coturnix quails ( mainly as pets!)
My parents plan to one day get a little farm in Langley or Chilliwack someday and keep some chickens! Nice seeing some people from Canada on here!
