Very odd, sometimes dangerous, difficult for animal husbandry that's for sure.

Here is my buried patio set, It snows here almost every day.

: My back is shot from all the shoveling. Weird weather today though supposed to be 12C today it's raining making the snow very heavy and it's so foggy you can't see across the street. Supposed to go back to normal freezing temps by Monday.

You should come to Alberta, went from freezing rain to -43 in one night and the warmest it's been is -17 and it started the last week in November. I would rather have all the snow.

6C and rain here with winds S37 and a Severe Wind Warning...
Our snow is melting!

I can't tell you how happy the chickens will be to see a bit of grass
(I hope we see a bit of grass)

and how happy that I'll be to walk on the pathway to the coop and not glide on my a@@!

I've got to take some pics of my setup that may help those of you with nasty weather:

Four years ago my SO came up with a great idea

and set up a Tempo at the chickens pop door which allows them more room to stretch their wings during the day. It lets light in and keeps the wind, rain and snow away from their run.

In summer you can roll the sides up and tie-wrap fencing material to the sides and they have a covered run for those days that they need more security when not able to free range.

it, the chickens and I. Excellent investment and I'm getting a lot of eggs from them which makes us even happier!

Rainbow eggs what a good idea....I love to see a photo ! What materials did SO use to let the light in?....

Well the snow has melted...we finally got a chance to clean out the eve troughs !! Luckily my brother was here to help because hubby would have been blown away with the winds!!!

Last night we stayed in Welland at the in laws and it was so warm we were sitting on the front porch....this morning was a different story....freezing with gusting winds...
My kids think spring has sprung...sadly I had to tell them the best is yet to come....

Does any one know if there is a Canadian section in here to buy and sell birds and eggs. To me [but I am just a beginer] it looks like all the ads are in U.S. Tried to join site freewebs.com/poultryswapontario and there is Canada trade but I have been waiting 2 weeks for their activation email and have emailed them 3 times now and get no reply. Sure would like to find a Canada buy, sell site so I can find more birds, more quickly.

Some people can give you some idea's where you can buy chickens /chicks on this site ...Just have to know what part of the country your located.Did you try the KIJIJI classifieds I have gotten some chickens and fertilized eggs off that site and I have bought some birds from local Hatcheries (sex links) but I wasnt to happy to see their beaks cut off so I wont be doing that again.Look in your yellow pages or google places that are close to you...you'll meet up with other people that'll give you more ideas ....good luck and welcome to BYC...you picked the right place for all the information you'll need ...hope I helped

We bought the Tempo as is, it's use is for a temporary car shelter in the winter...it is white, kind of a clear white that you can see shadows through and there are 2 clear plastic windows that lets the sun in.

I found these photos on Google to give you an idea of what they're like.
