Soon to move from Vancouver to Langley and looking forward to starting up a small chicken coop of Barnevelders and Barred Plymouth Rock chickens for eggs. Would love any BC contacts on here especially those who also have Barnevelders, if any.
New to chickens, I've been a fan of Muscovy ducks and raised them and Netherland dwarf rabbits in the past.

Building the coop now and looking to pick up chicks in late May or June. I travel the interior and the island and would help rural BC'ers if I'm able.

Do you use a heat lamp in the winter?

Sorry I took so long to answer. I didn't use a heat lamp in the beginning of winter but then predators took a lot of my birds and we had to move them to a more predator safe pen so we added a heat lamp.

Yup! It's said to dump over the next few days. Still can't complain with some of the beautiful days we've had already for March, not that I ever complain about rain.
