Hi Everyone!

I just got some ominous news from the grapevine... Apparently the rules for air lines are changing in the USA again. The US will no longer allow a bunch of stuff to be shipped by airlines into the country. So far I only know of a couple things included on the list, dogs and bodies. There are more though.

What I have been told so far is that anyone wanting to send a dog into the US by air can only do it if they are bringing it with them as carry on or as excess baggage. You can no longer send them. This also applies if someone dies outside of the US and needs to be brought back. They will still allow the use of cargo companies such as Purolator. Problem with these is that it must go through an agent, and only by those cargo companies that are willing to handle live animals, not all do. The cargo option is much more expensive.

I don't know yet if this will effect shipping of birds. But it would not surprise me at all.

Has anyone heard more about this? Most of this comes from a breeder friend who got a phone call yesterday to inform her that the dog she was sending today was being removed from the flight and would not be allowed on any future flight. She spoke with several different people with the airline and Canadian border officials. This has just happened and very few people seem to know much about it.

I don't know if this has anything to do with the discussion yesterday about new legislation regarding protection of flora and fauna. Maybe it does.

A lady I know SueTrudel is looking for a lady that she was in corrospondance with here about trading chickens this spring, she was pretty sure her name was Shelley but the Shelley I already contacted said it was not her. Sue is unable to log on here anymore for some reason so asked if I would try to find this lady. She was from Northern Alberta somewhere around Spruce Grove I believe. If you know who you are please contact me by email and I will pass your information on to her.
Thanks everyone.

Amherstburg? But not in town, on the outskirts, along sandwich/front north/highway 18 (all the same road :p). My friend has a pet chicken, she used to have more kept in a barn, but aside from her I don't know anyone who keeps chickens here. Woo!
