Canadians check in here....

Hi chickcrack! It's odd to answer to Piglet too! It's a real life nick name 'cause I tend to snort sometimes when I laugh. I didn't expect to meet someone so close so quickly. That's awesome!

There's actually more Canadians on this site that I thought there would be! I just joined a week ago I think. Been keeping chickens 3 years and anytime I googled a question it would hit on BYC so finally dove in and joined lol. I have found tons of great info and quickly become addicted...almost as addicted as I am to my chickens! Are you new to chickens piglet or just this site?

I'm new to both. I was gifted some chickens from my husband's cousin for my birthday at the beginning of May. I've been wanting some forever. Right now they are still living with her as my husband and I build them their castle. I can't wait for them to come home but with both of working all day and trying to get the garden in too it's a slow process. How many chickens do you have?

OMG that would be my favorite cousin for life! What a great gift. Is hubby on board with this idea? When I announced that I was getting chickens my boyfriend was giving me the big speech that they can't be pets...you don't name them...they get eaten one day. I said nope that's not going to be how it goes. They will be pets they will have names and they will not be eaten. When I brought the day old chicks home he was helping me transfer them to the brooder and he pulled out a little red head fluff ball and fell in love lol. He named her Jose Wales before the day was over. The big tough guy changed his tunes pretty fast ;)
I have 16 chickens. 6 barred rocks, 4 old English bantams and 6 6week old blue cochins. I just finally got the rest of my garden in last weekend...weird spring!

I haven't gotten my chicks yet. I ve ordered 5 and looking for 2 more. I'm going into this as my chickens are producers and when they stop...well then you know...........................soup

But my boys have now named them the chicks before they have arrived which puts a wrench in my plans....
