What kinds of chickens do you have?

Not sure on breeds yet, all I know is a mix of heritage breeds. Possibly 2 EE (which is great!)

Hello again! Welcome to the Canadian thread!

Yes...it sure has been chilly. Not the best weather for baby chicks...lol. Yet. They do well inside...but you'll be ready to get them outside when it's time. I know I always am.

We just warmed up to -3C today from -18C yesterday. Hope it stays nice...we just started calving.

Yes, we need to warm up! I just hatched out 148 chicks!

Luckily now cow calves till April now!

Hot out big pure bred coop built with pens, more work needed but going to get breeds separated now for hatching and selling! So excited!

Sounds like s nasty storm coming in. Right when we have to run our bison through and tag and load them for auction! Yes, we have bees as well! Have them set up in the boreal forest part of our land! Love honey use it for everything! I have a Facebook page just started to add photos lots more to add! The list is a handful of post down! Have to open post to see long list and prices! I'm in Alberta. I am incredibly fortunate. My chicken genius cousin moved to a place she couldn't keep her flock. I wanted chickens and inherited the flock of colourful, partridge Chantaclers with Bo (awesome rooster) and two Heirs Apparent and a four lovely Sussex with Tang, a good rooster. I am feeling my inexperience! I set 64 eggs. I culled half after candling at 14 days. 11 days later, I have one pip. Setting aside the percentage and possible explanations for the poor rate and tardy action, please join me in my OMGoodness moment: first pip!!!!!!!!-- Katherine

Hi there, I am new to this forum. I have 8 pekin ducks that I need to re home. We have developed a problem with weasels on our property and lost 2 females in the last month. We have set traps but have not been successful. One of our males got attacked last week but thankfully seems to be on the mend. We live in the Horseshoe Valley area of Ontario which is about 1.5 hours north of Toronto. Does anyone know someone who may be interested? I want them to go to someone who will love them as much as I do...

Hello!!

I'm so sorry to hear of you having to re home your ducks. I am no help in locating a new owner, but perhaps you can see if there are local trappers near you that can help you out?

I'm sure you have tried what you can, I just find sometimes this is an option not often thought of.
