Canadians check in here....

Hey, I'm from New Brunswick!

Just wondering if anyone around here is selling or knows anyone selling laying hens (or close to laying)? We are just getting started and currently have 4 Easter egger chicks, but was also really hoping to get some laying hens as well. It seems next to impossible to find any around here!

Are you looking for just hens? I may be able to get you 3 white Wyandotte hens and a rooster. I sell chick's also if you are looking for some more.Check out my Facebook page.

Someone in Fredericton is selling 10 week old brown layers. I can probably find the ad if you'd like? I think they were $10 each.

We are in northern Alberta, and weather has not been typical at all. I have two 2 month old chicks who are pretty well fully feathered but going nuts in brooder in the house. Do you think it's too soon to move them to the barn brooder? The barn is not insulated but there's heat lamps

I have mine in a little hut with heat lamps, and as long as the outside temps don't go too far into the -15 or lower temps, they should be fine. A good indicator is the water. Place it on the outside range of your heating lamps, and if it freezes, you might want to add more lamps, or move the chickies to somewhere warmer. That's what i do, at least, and so far so good!

Good luck!
