The Farmers' Daughter
Bob's biggest Fan
Our weather here has been pretty bizarre. Going from -44 to +4 and back again. Very little snow either. One of my hens started laying last week. A definite sign that spring is on its way.

This is an awesome place full of great people.
From your avatar I'm going to make the assumption that you show your birds. What birds do you show? Are you going to Wetaskiwin in the 17th?
I'm new to this site but have had chickens for a couple of years. We moved from Ontario to Nova Scotia this summer but I had to leave my hens behind because I worried they wouldn't travel well.
I am looking for more chickens but having a very hard time finding Heritage Breeds in Cape Breton. I really want Marans, I also am looking for Easter Eggers, and / Ameraucanas but miss chickens so much at this point I'd probably take anything.
In NS it depends on the local by-laws you'll have to look it up.I'm considering a move to Nova Scotia. Can anyone tell me whether cities such as Yarmouth or Shelburne allow hens in town? Does it vary from town to town like in the states?
It varies here in Nova Scotia in each community. Most are chicken or hen friendly and like other states and provinces some are still working on by-lawsHi! Are towns in Nova Scotia friendly toward chickens? It varies from city to city here but more seem to be allowing 4-6 hens.
