TE="Albertan, post: 20109046, member: 502528"]Hi everyone! Need help with my hens. I have a mixed flock. Two year old Silkie laying with my two Amerucaunas that were introduced in Dec 2017.Amerucaunas are 9 months old. I have a two year olds GLW, RIR, Speckled Sussex and Cohin. Everyone stopped laying in January. RiR molted in Feb. No one has layed since. I read about ceyenne pepper and did that for 2 days and now the Cochin is laying. They get 16 hours light in coop and they free range everyday. It is a small coop but they only roost in it. Cannot find hiding nests. Changed food to higher protein, they get dried worms/ sunflower seeds/ layer feed/ been dewormed/ several freding/water stations. No parasites. They are not fed alot of treats. Why are they not laying? Especially the Sussex, RIR and Wyndotte breeds? Thank you!!
Give them oyster shell. After the change in feed from the mills, I gave them a dish and keep it full!

QUOTE="Albertan, post: 20109085, member: 502528"]What happened at the mills? I did not hear that. Chickens got garlic tonight! Poor things are probably tired of my experimwnting on them. Lol
Due to world shortages of certain vitamins and minerals, the mills are mixing to min requirements. I went in Jan crazy trying to figure out what was going on. Got letter in Feb.
Mine still need extra protein. If they can't free range that day, I give them a little oats or cat food.

Maybe the roo. He is a good roo. Very protective and easy to handle. He has seven hens. Should be enough for him? He has been with the flock for almost 2 years. Two years in August. He was integrated at 4 months old with the female Cochin.
