I was considering a design I that saw where up in the roof they built a nice private loft to house a broody hen and chicks ....
This whole winter I'll probably spend re-designing the run and play area, now that I see where the snow is.
I need a sliding glass window for natural sunlight and .......

oh my this is going to be a long winter!

yes - it looked like a great way to use space!

I loved the little curtain and the space up there and easy access to water and food - it looked so private and
with the chicks enclosed and up high like that they wouldn't be bumped about ....

I had been thinking of a box type nest built separatley and kept out in the run
with a little ramp leading down to an enclosed grass patch under the nest box but I couldn't picture the little chickies coming down a ramp and not tumbling over themselves -

If I made the loft idea - I can easily make a small enclosed run for them to put them into for play and scratch practice, and go with the loft idea for private time with Mum.

It would be great to hatch or raise a few chickies - my daughter would LOVE it!
She kisses the unfertilized eggs now because she thinks there are little babies inside.

yes - a small addition already - and winter to work out all the details....
