Canadians check in here....

His last name is simpson. LOL. He's practically my neighbour! he has 3 big production barns around very close to us (within a mile in any given direction). We try to do some brush wolf and coyote control for them since our property backs onto his neighbour and those brush wolves are everywhere this year.

Thats right!! Thanks. He is such a nice guy. Good lord, this has to be about 20 years ago, or so, when we were in the pig business. He likely won't remember us, but you can ask him if you see him sometime. Gary and Shirley Betzner!! From West Flamborough.. now Hamilton of course.. seeing as how they took us over, lol.

I do see him off and on usually either in the grocery store or when we are asking to get a couple of pigs for our local community bbqs in the summer LOL. seemed like the logical place to get a couple of pigs donated.

I'll ask next time i see him

, most often we're just waving as we're both roaring down the road in our respective directions. if he took over, i'm sure he'll remember you!

well, 28 eggs into lockdown last night....don't see any pips yet (don't expect until tuesday morning....) i just cannot wait! having trouble getting my incubator humidity up, have a hovabator, so i just filled most of the wells in the bottom with warm water...it's up a bit now...waiting on it to stabilize.

have a great one!

lolol. No, Hamilton took us over.. not Brian. Hee hee. And, thanks.. we both say a big hi to him. Good luck with your eggs. I so want an incubator.. I see that Nasco has the kind you have.. but I am leaning towards a brinsea. Do you like yours??????? I know they are a heck of alot cheaper.

This is the first hatch i've ever done with the hovabator. I have the electronic control one, and i have to say the temp was spot on when i unpacked it. no adjustment necessary at all.
berryhill limited in st. thomas also carries them-as well as several larger incubators that i did drool over too...but then thought what on earth would i do with 300 chickens (other than have to buy quota!)....i had some trouble actually finding someone near me (might be my lack of internet savvy though) that carried the smaller incubators. you can get this one as part of a kit too with everything needed - heat lamp, waterer, feeder etc....i could get them from the USA cheaper, but the wait was way longer with customs, so i opted to get one in canada. so i'll know on tuesday/wednesday how well it's done LOL. i've been meticulously checking the water levels and temperature when i'm home, and it all seems okay. filling up the rest of the water reservoirs in the bottom has the humidity up a little bit....i have tried out a forced air model hobavator while hatching quail for a friend of mine, an older version hobavator with the manual dial thermostat, and it was not nearly as stable temperature wise as this one, so far i'm really happy with this one (it's called a genesis hobavator). the forced air still worked well, but i found i had to adjust it throughout the incubation period...as the eggs got heavier it tended to overheat a bit, so i had to adjust down, i think it just had issues with the heat that the eggs had in them. i'm crossing all my fingers and toes for a good hatch! if it goes well i might be on kijiji soon with some mutt roosters! LOL

I need to count again.... have 13 moved to brooder, all drinking and eating. Have another 5 or so still drying and at least 1 more egg cheepng away. 2 more are pipped bu have been for a long time so not sure they will do anything.....
I'm not sure I'm going to sleep tonight :D

They're all dark (barred rock dad) with little patches of white and yellow and white tummies lol
