Candeling and hatching diary.

That's a duck for you, they take there time.  They are in NO rush, I think they concentrate on prepping themselves in those eggs rather then concentrate on getting out. LOL

I think so.

How long do y'all leave eggs that didn't hatch on hatch day in the incubator for I can't candle them bc the eggs or to dark I couldn't candle the whole time I had them in there I tried couldn't see anything I didn't even knw if I was going to have any chicks I have 25 out of 42 that hatched is that good or bad this is my first time

You can float test them on day 23

Is my time of redemption at hand? PIPS from chickens set 3, and lone duck egg set 2! Must have happened overnight or very early this AM- found them like this around 8:30am, the chick was chirping like nuts. The duck I quick candled, it's moving around but wasn't chirping then. Is this pip odd?

Whooo hooo!! None of my ducks ever made much noise especially compared to chicks.

So your duck is facing down and the chicken is face up. LOL OMG, that's funny, Hell be ok though...

Ok well I had done some research on mareks and was informed by a vet, the best way to handle that and of course that is if you have it. Is not to allow any new comers into your flock to only hatch out own, it decreases the chances of it spreading and of course getting the entire flock vaccinated. But how old was the chick. Maybe it wasn't mareks. I've had some lose weigh and die off because of our cold weather but also because of a
definiciency.

Thanks for doing this ,you shouldn't have !!!
This restores a bit more faith but the did the leg one sided thing we have disinfected all are coops just in case, so I am hoping for the best !
Planning on candling the eggs today so will post images for others opinion s .
Thanks again helped alot !

Mareks is every where, it's hard to avoid it but you shouldn't let that discourage you. unless you go and have it lab tested you are not going to know for sure.

I have a Silkie who had a leg flaring out, could not use it, was going out to the side of her etc.... First thing of course I thought was like you OMG, NO, I have over 200 chickens LOL not counting all my ducks, so you can understand my Panick, this thing is going to wipe out my entire Flock right? Well after I was done freaking out just like you, I confined her and put a Vitamin B in her drinking water, Today she is out side acting like a hen even laying eggs. What was the problem, The boys got SOOO rough with her, they injured her leg. Now there was visible signs except her leg was to the side of her, No cuts or outside noticeable marks. But she couldn't walk on it, it took OVER a month before she started using it again. If you saw her you would or anyone would probably said YEP Mareks, well in my opinion she should be either dead or the "boys" and the Other girls that she was with should be showing signs as well. needless to say, ALL is very well.. She's even got herself some kids. LOL,

So when you get a problem, try to trouble shoot the problem instead of assuming the worst, try to treat her the best you can. If it ends out great you pat yourself on the back if you it doesn't then you have to rethink your problem.. Yours may have had the same issue as my Silkie. Just a sore leg or a leg issue, who knows like I said unless she's lab tested positive then OK, YEH can't argue with that. LOL

One of our red sex links has a sore leg. Noticed her limping on it. I've put her in with the juveniles for a few days and see how she does. Still eating and drinking and roosting at night. I think she just hurt her leg, as there's no sign of bumble foot or other outward sores.

Try some Vitiamin B complete, put one pill in a quart of water, give him time, it takes a long time..
