Candeling and hatching diary.

Duckling is doing good! Booty still in the shell. Yolk is almost totally absorbed. Still resting, but looks really good.

If it is yolk you need to place him UPRIGHT, you also need to place some chopped up onions in there. He could stop at anytime. If that yolk dries up, the process will END. you need to make sure it is YOLK and not just his vent swelled up..

Hell get a bacteria infection if you just leave him that is IF it's yolk but you have not really confirmed yet.. His veins will get blood clots and that will end the process. He should have already completed the absorbing if that is yolk..

It was yolk. As I speak it's totally gone. The sac has been fully absorbed. Baby is still alive, chirping and kicking. Hasn't gotten up yet though. It's not a swollen vent. I know where the vent is and where it's not.

What do you mean by upright positioning? And the onion is for infection, right?

Thank you!

We have had a bit of yolk in our last batch egg but chick survived and now laying its own eggs so hopefully yours will be fine .
We have two eggs that have piped now (can not really see one i can only see a line not sure if its pencil or not !!!)
Hovering over the incubator every minute LOL.:)

Almost time for lock down. Candle tomorrow and lockdown on Wednesday. I was wondering, I have my eggies in an egg crate, and turn them myself, do I take them out and just lay them in the incubator to hatch?

A lot of people mistaken the swollen vent for yolk, it does look very very similar..

The onion is to keep the bacteria away from the yolk so that he can absorb. Not for infections.. Can you sent a pic so I can verify, you don't want to use the onion for a swelled up vent.
