Another question - I plan on slipping her under my broody who, when I last looked at 5pm, had one hatched. Should I put this incubator chick under her tonight, in the dark? Or wait until morning when it'll be fully dried and fluffed up? They hatched about an hour apart and I kind of want to put them together sooner rather than later, but it's going down to 30 tonight.
I do have the other egg with a pip still in the incubator too. Maybe just wait til the 2nd one hatches and then move them together.

Well, we moved the flopping new chick out to join her 2 hatched siblings under the broody. Also heard chirping coming from the 1 left in the incubator with a little pip.
I'm very curious what I will wake up to!

Oh thank you!! I read on your site that you definitely prefer incubating eggs laying down. That makes me feel better with my incubator being set up how it is. Okay so if I have detached air cells - at what point do I just lay them down? I mean, because they are shipped eggs they will obviously not be only a day or two old. They will be, at most hopefully, 7 days old when I get them. So I don't want to wait on incubating them for too long. 

Yeh laying down is much better if at all possible.

So when you get them you will need to candle them to see who's loose or who's detached. Give them all at least 8 hours to settle. Now I read with deatchable give them 24 hours.

Loose is when the air air moves but stays at the top, deatchable is when the entire air cell is completely off and it will move around the entire egg it will look like there's a bubble rolling around inside. I can work with loose but detached humm no luck yet.

But you may want to try and give the detached ones more time to settle versus the loose ones. The loose ones I throw in after 8 hours and in an upright position, I shift them slightly back and fourth then on the fourth day which is the best day to see those spider veins, then I lay them down. As soon as you see development you can lay them down.. If it's in three days great if it's five days ok. When ever you see development they can be laid down..

I always rest my eggs for at least 24 hrs if they have bad detached aircells I will rest them for up to 48 hours.

And if it's detached does the 48 hours helps any?? I give mine 8 hours...

Ahhh if you still had more leave them in there, the ones that are out will actually help those that are coming. So unless you have two or more then you can move Them to the mommy, but always leave at least one in there, to help inspire those who have not come out yet...

And this morning I have an external pip so excited I am hoping for fuzzy butts by the time I get home humidity should be good because I added water last night I have 60 in lockdown right now with 24 due today and the rest some time this weekend where will I put all the babies.

Do you have two bators going?? How can you have some due today and some that have just started going into lockdown??
