Candle button quail egg

I started hatching some button quail eggs 10 days ago. I candled them at the beginning and they all looked transparent with my iphone light. However, the egg looked completely dark and I could not see anything. What is the problem?

Also, how long does it take for button quail eggs to hatch? Thanks a lot.

Button quail eggs can be really hard to see into in my experience. Don't worry about not being able to see into it.

You should put your button eggs into lockdown around day 14 and expect hatch on day 17.

What issthe the problem?As the eggs develop the become more opaque letting less light through; a good thing for you as it means they're likely to hatch.

They can sometimes take longer than 17 days, so if they don't hatch then, don't panic. I've had some hatch as late as day 23.
