Has anyone repaired a cracked egg with candle wax? If so, what did you do at hatch time? Leave the wax on and hope the chicken comes through okay? Pick off the wax? Anyone have any experience? The egg is wiggling, but haven’t seen a pip yet. Hoping I will be able to see it through the wax. I cracked this one at the final candle before lock down 😭 I thought I was doomed! Then realized I cracked the air sac & there was no leakage at all. I read on here or FB that candle wax would do the trick ! It def did. I see the air sac and everything. I am just worried about the breaking through point ! It’s still wiggling , so it’s still living 🙌🏼

I wouldn’t worry about patching it up at all. It’s this late in time that it’s basically like a safety whole and you especially wouldn’t have damaged anything if it was on the air sac.
If you’re saying you already did, dry candle wax is usually pretty easy to come off when it’s not on the actual candle stick, so it’s up to you if you want to take it off or not

I did already put it on bc I panicked ! I literally thought I killed the chicken 😭 I haven’t done anything so far, so I figure if it tries to hatch and it is having a lot of trouble, then ill
Intervene. I had to do an ‘egg-section’ on my duck last year that pipped at the wrong end. It just gives me anxiety !

That is totally understandable! It’s even good if you are a little bit worried when incubating. But you don’t need to worry too much with the candle wax. If it looks like it’s a lot of wax or it’s thick/hard, you can gently wipe it off, then quickly set it back in the incubator.

I used a tea candle, so it when it went on it was thin.
