Ok so I am wondering when I can candle my eggs? I really am exicted and I am wondering what day is the best day to do a first candle. Also what do you recommend using? Flashlight wise.

If you can get an LED flashlight I would recommend that, for the cheap way. They are AWESOME. As far as candling for the first time, I REALLY recommend you wait til day 8-10. That way you can FOR SURE tell if there is developement. As soon as you see a developing egg, you can tell the duds for sure, with no problem. Sit on your hands, take up knitting, read a book......

I'm still kind of new but I use a mini maglite with my hand curled around it. I have eggs that are now 3 days in the incu that I can see little red lines in and I also have eggs due to hatch later in the week that I can see chicks in. With my first batch I waited til the eggs were 8 days to candle and I could see little embryos having a party in there!

Ok day 8 it is. I am very excited to see what comes of it. I know that they are barn yard specials but it will be awesome to see what comes about and watch the development of the eggs and embryos. Thanks for the info. I am sure Ill update my post when I candle, but I am sure I will have a ton more questions coming along the way.
