Well Im cadleing eggs and Im very dissappointed that the first three looked solid black. I couldnt see through them at all. At day eight what should I be seeing? Day 15?

Anybody know a website with good CLEAR non blurry pictures?

look at the stickys at the top of this thread. There are several links that are VERY helpful!

Good luck.

FYI, if they don't smell. DO NOT throw them yet.

I'mo n day 16 and there isnt' a whole lot to see anymore. just a few veins and a solid dark mass

On day 8, you should be seeing a moving embryo surrounded by veins and blood vessels if it is fertile. If you see anything that has no blood vessels or embryo and the light shines straight through it and you may see a shadow of the yolk, it is infertile and should be disposed of.

On day 15, it should be completely black, or nearly black and you may see some blood vessels. You will also notice the airsac at the top (large end) is quite large, these are all good signs. If it is infertile, showing only the shadow of the yolk light straight through it etc.. it should be disposed of.

This site shows candling duck eggs, but they look quite similar to if you were candling chicken eggs:

Good luck!

I use and LED flashlight with 5 bulbs in it. It works GREAT even on the dark eggs
