Candler too hot?

I checked my eggs ~ mid-way through gestation.. out of 24 eggs, 8 of them quit right around that time.... I have a 200 watt bulb in my candler.. would that have 'cooked' them???

edit to add: No I didn't leave them sit there for half an hour. Less than a minute.

I'm no expert but I wouldnt think that you cooked them. I would lean more towards coincidence...In My Humble Newbie Opinion
