I was cleaning the house today and was about to light some of my scented soy candles while I worked. My baby chicks are in the sunroom, open to the house. All of a sudden I remembered that you are not supposed to light candles with pet birds in the house. I guess that would have to include chicks, right? If so, that was a close call, although I don't remember if soy candles can hurt regular birds or just wax candles? Anyway, it would be good to know...

Soy candles Could possibly hurt them if they were enclosed in it for a long time. Wax candles - the same thing. Strong Scented waxed candles all have a fume called "Gtc" (Gallome Tranquilled Centracide) I plays the same affect that cO2 does to humans. I wouldent be worried about them if it was a short period of time and if they are acting regular now.

I had no idea about that. Thanks for letting me know! I'm getting chicks in on tues and usually have a candle going somewhere for scent.
