Just candled my six buff orpington eggs at the closing of day 4. The eggs are quite porous so it made things difficult to see, but at least three have embryos, and the others are still uncertain at this point.

More veining seen, but unable to capture in photo:

Embryo can be seen, especially if you tilt your screen up:

thats not nice! people have candled that early and their eggfs were Fine!

op dont worry about it, i did it too, so far so good! if it kills them me and you can cry togeather, but i ve seen others do it, so I'M not worried!

I have always candled that early and never had problems. The op needs to realize that the mommy does get off the nest to eat and drink for a few minutes every day. I don't candle the last 3 days because the humidity will drop too much for hatch time. As long as you do it quick, and the temp in the incubator recovers within a half hour or so, have fun watching your embryo develop..

It is so much fun! In a few days there will be the little floating black dot (eye) and then I think its most interesting at day 12-16. After that, they get a bit cramped and the egg just looks dark. I wouldn't do it everyday, there won't be much of a change. Every 3 or 4 days is fun, they develop so fast, they will look different in such a short period of time. The porus eggs are harder to see through, but your camera takes nice candling pics! I am looking foward to seeing their development.
