Candling at end of Day Four (PHOTOS)

I have heard that porous eggs are harder to hatch as well. I have increased the humidity by about 5% to help compensate for this, but only time will tell.

I hatched out 9 out of 10 BBS orpington eggs from very porous Ebay shipped eggs, and they were definately hard to see the baby chick in them, but they didn't have one bit of a problem hatching out. The 10th one that didn't make it was almost fully developed, but stopped developing some time before lockdown. Good Luck with you chickies!!

Great pics! I love to candle. I try to wait 7 days for the first time, just because there is more veining, and it's easier to see----but I rarely wait that long.

The only "great way" to kill an egg by candling, I've found, is to drop the darn thing.

Will you post more pics as the progress? There are so very few good candling pics.

A few more photos. One has a clearly beating heart (!) and the other is a probable blood ring.

I will wait a few days before deciding conclusively about that one.
