I have been incubating chicken hatching eggs I received in the mail and my hopes are pretty low that any of these eggs are viable or will hatch. I’ve tossed 1 that was clearly unfertilized and 1 that was rotten, but the rest I don’t see what I would expect to see 3 days before hatch date.. there are dark patches in the eggs but I can’t make out an embryo or see movement etc, and the dark area doesn’t seem to take up enough space. They are brown eggs (barred rocks, Orpington, australorp) but there are a few polish too which should be easiest to see due to the white shell. Well this is what one looked like when candled but this embryo has to be dead. It’s way too small right??? Since it doesn’t smell I left it in but I’m heartbroken for my 5 year old that none of these eggs will probably hatch. :-(
Edit to add I’ve never incubated before but am doing my best to compare what I’m seeing to online articles, pictures, videos, etc.
