candling eggs

Lockdown starts tomorrow night. I will candle to see if there are any dead eggs

Well I did what James said and waited to candle til later. I could see clear (not fertile), some cracking I had missed, one so badly cracked it must have evaporated because it was empty :/
The remaining started to pip last night and with the help of bugglesmommy (I wish you could tag people on here). I have two out so far and some rocking and pipping!

11 out of 12 fertile, but one didn't make it through the night so 10 now.

Have 28 out of 50 eggs that were fertile. Candled at 1 week and couldn't see anything. Candled again at 10 days and still had a hard time with most of the eggs. Candled at day 15 and that worked like a charm. Eggs are on lockdown now. Have seen some rocking. Keeping fingers crossed. Congratulations, Starkasm on your hatch!

Thank you and good luck to you! I had the same problem with candling, couldn't really tell for sure.
Then at lock down, I took them all out of the turner and I candled, like James said, then laid them on their sides on the bottom. Set all the ones aside that I could see through and put all the other ones on the other side. At this point I could only see movement in one. Then I had a couple pips the night before they hatched and was happy with that. Then the next day, one popped at noon then one around 2pm.
Around 5:30 I thought why aren't they hatching!!? I checked and 4 had popped then 3 more etc. It was like a popcorn popper all of a sudden they all wanted out! We got one yellow and my daughter named it popcorn
The 2nd one that pipped (the night before) was a little stuck so I helped him after everyone else was out. Other than everyone trying to eat his feet at first (he's the only one with black on his toes) he's doing great!
I can't get over how tiny they are! Fun to watch them!

Eggs started hatching last night. Had 18 out of 28 hatched when I left the house this morning. Can't wait until I get home later.
