Candling help so sorry!

If your air sack is moveing its detached and wll not develope. The proper temp for an egg is 99.5. If it got up that high then I do believe your eggs are cooked!

my air sac isnt moving sorry

just the shadow moves around the egg? i dont know why but i presumed that inside it would be still lolol

they are infertile i think what i am seeing is a yolk moving and the air sac is on the top end. i see no dots on the eggs except 2. one is completely black and floaty this is for the bin im sure.

both black dots arent moving or any veins so presumed dead

one egg has 2 black spots on opposite sides guessing a freak of nature lolol 2 headed chicken no movement thankgoodness lol

i will wait till day 7 to be sure before i bin

i will inspect them for blastoderm and blastodisc lolol been reading about that to check on cracking.

I'm in the same situation as you but my temp never spiked that high, some eggs are so dark I can't candle at all then some have the shadow at the top, and I have quail eggs in too, which I can't candle at allI'm going to wait a week and try to candle again, I'm on day3/4 its my 1st time and I think I really screwed it up already, I should of gave my broody the eggs I thought would hatch rather then the 1s I thought wouldn't. she seems to be doing a better job then me.

OK SO I CRACKED THE BLACK EGG not sure what i thought i would fine but definate brown please dont tell me it was ok lololol

stupid dog ate it when i come to get a cloth so cant been too bad ! she is naughty

any ideas did it look fertilised as there no blastoderm or yolk to inspect lolol all burst!!

im having terrible temp problems thermostat didnt work now i am trying my best to just use the dimmer and keep panicing and messing and making it worse. i have a new thermostat but need to test it i tried it with a light bulb it goes off but not sure on temperatures until mr hongkong sends me some spares thermometers.

i also got some 10w halogen s for the 12v thermostat i built that myself as per the instructions, think the 240v is why it doesnt work did everything it says and it still doesnt turn off the light when i turn the knob lolol so downsizing to 12v with transformer hoping that does it.

my plastic box with a light bulb and one fan and a 1" cut out hole seems to be more reliable !!! if they hatch in there i will be sooo mad ! wasting all this effort on elaborate designs lol

why isnt it just simple like everyone else lolol

im running out of usb and lamps to cut up lolol

did you check the shadow out on that link but becareful i seen another site saying shadow and air sac is good lolol now i completely confused.

added a fishtank glass thermom to my front glass and that only reading 35 deg is it C top of egg is 99f digital how many thermostat should i have in there cause none of them are the same lolol and its only a small cool box (not a styro foam a picnic insulated plastic one) cant wait for the water wiggler to throw me off completely lolol

more candling needed hurry up i need it to be dark lolol its 5.30pm here

and i ordered a thermometer that runs off the usb and i will attach it to my computer and gives me 12 sec every reading for 12 hrs lol £5 ebay so i can see where i go wrong. and how off these thermometers

I think the black dot is supposed to be the eye but not sure, hope someone answers you. isn't it so frustrating, I've only been in 4 days and I'm already worried none are going to hatch.

Ohhhh no I thought they were dead.

My black silkies def not fertile. See photobucket

The other large dark shadow was a chicken it had a body beak and a eye. Not sure if it dead but it is now. No more cracking till I'm sure what a shame!!! See photobucket

Black eye to left separated from body when I tipped it.

There was a shadow no veins no dot etc such shame!! Day4-5

so the big dark shadows at the top of the eggs are the developing chicks thats what you cracked open? I took 1 of my eggs out to candle it and it was already cracked I still candled it and it seemed to have the shadow, I think it got stuck in the egg turner when it expanded and didn't have room so it crack only thing I can think of unless someone went in and broke 1 while i was out. well anyway when i opened it up it had veins in it. so I'm going to leave the rest alone and hopefully some will hatch.

if u dont mind looking the egg i cracked dead one

the eye head is left the body middle it seperated when i cracked.

i was thinking the same black dot dead spot so i cracked it seemed too early for such a dark dot!! and no movement

been to market got 12 eggs more to replace the black silkie eggs as i am sure they are infertile you watch me kill another one now

day 6 today so there has got to be definate shapes and movement today. if im not sure i will leave them be!

INCUBATOR update

installed the thermostat near to the bulb it turns off at 55 as it near the lights but the digital temp ontop of the eggs is 102 when it switches off its there as a preventative measure as i cant get it to come back on till 96 it comes in a plastic casing i removed the sides made holes but still not much better i am not sure if its safe to have it in there with no casing etc?? ideas on that one most on here has just the internals etc. i have set my dimmer so the temp is 99-100 so its if it spikes then i wont cook them. ever again.

if you have a better idea let me know?

i got the water wriggler but im a little unsure of the measurements the size of it compared to bantam eggs any one use one religiously and set there temps to it! or is it just a novelty.

i did make the velleman thermostat but cant switch 240v with it had two engineers on it lol we cant see why !! so i give up as needed a quicker result.

the other box is a 40w light bulb some wood rollers as turners a spongedish and a computer fan temp by first row of eggs is 100 with a reptile temp stick on dial at back nearer top it is a little cooler but this is a test incubator as simple as you can get.

when you start reading on here there are just so many models and makes and diys and the simplest easiest designs work just as good!

i put a few free range tesco eggs in lolool i had a bit of space so ill let you know how that turns out lol they usually arent fertile but after reading on the internet who knows some have hatched before!! they are my mystery eggs. i have definately had a few fertile recently due to the red dots lol in my scramble lol yuk now i know what it was !! and i thought it was the slime trail that i didnt want to eat lol

OHHHH sad day today at market the usual bird eaters were there today they had the most georgeous geece DO they eat geece~?? 6 there was so friendly they made no attempt to be kind when boxing them into crates i wouldnt put 1 chicken. i was soo wishing they had teeth and claws to fight back. They buy out the market with there£1 and £4 purchases then bundled them into a truck where i know they are bagging them up for the freezer on the way home. We rescued as we call it lol 2 bantam black aruacana chicks 8 wks at 75p each they are having a forever home with us lolol unless they are cockerals lol

Right its dusk 18.47pm candling time again !! got me new led light 9 lights bit brighter less heat from my bulb one i made no fear of fire lol
