Candling quail eggs?

I researched online and most candling method involve chickens eggs that are light brown to white. Is it possible (or easy) to candle quail eggs that are speckled with brown spots? The quail eggs are just so small and I can't see anything.

Because quail eggs are so small, and coturnix shells are usually spotted, it can be difficult to candle them. However, as long as there isn't a big spot right over the top (big end--where the air sac is), you should be able to tell when you stop turning the eggs if they are any good. A 'good' egg will be dark except for the air cell, a bad egg will be totally clear or the bottom (pointy end) will be clear. You might be able to see veins, but don't count on it

At 1 week I usually can tell if one has started to develop or if it is clear. I can't tell if they are alive or not though.

I occasionally see an embryo move while candling, but that is very rare. If I can see red/shadows or totally dark...it's a maybe. If it lights up like a Christmas tree, then it's a dud.
