Candy makers....tips please

It's that time of year again...

making Easter candy. I have a great recipe for PB eggs and would love to make them look as good as they taste! So if you have any tips for coating candy in chocolate I would greatly appreciate it.
Here's what I usually do:

I do buy chocolate wafers that specify "coating" chocolate and I chill the eggs before coating them. I don't think my problems originate from the melting just the actual act of coating. I've tried toothpicks, spoons and forks for the dipping. My candy is just not pretty

They should have spray on chocolate...it'd be easier. Seriously dip one side and then dip in ice water, then dip the other side and dip it in ice water. It is the cooling process that always mucks it up.
