I know! I was so afraid that she was going to do bad things to them. This is my first time letting a hen raise chicks, and it's amazing to watch. She started out being very protective and not letting them do much of anything or go anywhere without her. As the days have gone by, they are getting more adventurous, and she is letting them range a little further away from her. But the slightest perceived threat, and she is right there! They hop on her back and she gives them piggyback rides, which is probably just about the cutest thing I've ever seen. Never quite manage to get it on camera though!
BTW, the chicks are mille fleur d'uccle roo x cinnamon queen hen. I'm so curious to see what they end up looking like.
