On the other hand, in a ranging scenario with managed feed, layer chicks can prompt broiler chicks to move more.Yeah, you really aren't supposed to mix broilers with regular birds, because the broilers just want to hang out and eat, so they're easy targets.

Not red, per se, but blood....otherwise no chicken would have any combs left.Any chicken that sees a red color on another chicken will start pecking at it. As they draw more blood, it becomes a bigger target for more chickens. Now that they've acquired the taste of blood and flesh, they turn into cannibals.
